Meetings with authors and their translators in secondary schools
Young people are our future – our future readers and authors, and our up-and-coming translators. That is why the ch Series has been dispatching authors and their translators to Swiss secondary schools for many years now. These tandem readings give the students a greater feel for what happens between languages, and for what happens to texts and authors that/who are translated. A close look at the craft, examining and using language, as well as the discussion that arises as a result, are a playful way of using words and awakening a passion for literature and its languages.
Prix | Premio | Premi – ch-Oertli – Prize
Matura translation prize
With the Oertli-ch – Prize, the ch Foundation and the Walter and Ambrosina Oertli Foundation have created a biennial award that recognizes outstanding-quality literary translation projects that count towards the Matura upper school-leaving certificate. Getting to grips with literary translation can be an enriching experience for students with a flair for languages. It enables them to experience language not just as a means of communication, but also as an artistic medium, and to become absorbed in the linguistic and cultural diversity of Switzerland.
